Privacy Policy

FamilySafe (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) helps you monitor online / last-seen style presence for people you choose, using a session you link on your own device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is used.

FamilySafe is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. or the maker of WA App / WhatsApp.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the FamilySafe Android application published under package name com.familysafe.web on Google Play.

2. Information the App processes

Depending on how you use FamilySafe, the App may process:

Linked session data — when you link your messaging account through the in-app web session (phone pairing code or QR), session cookies / local web storage needed to keep that session active on your device.
Contact / chat list data shown by that session — names and phone identifiers available to your linked account, so you can pick who to monitor.
Presence information — online / offline / last-seen style status for people you pin, when that information is visible under the other person’s privacy settings.
History on device — timestamps of online/offline transitions and related summaries you view in the App.
App settings — for example notification preference, background monitor preference, and whether a session is linked.
Demo / sample preview data — fictional sample people shown before you link an account; these are not real contacts.

3. Where data is stored

FamilySafe is designed to be local-first. Presence history, contact names, and detailed activity timelines are stored on your Android device (local database / preferences).

To help you finish setup and to send optional app tips or offers you can opt into via notifications, the App may sync a limited device profile to Google Firebase (Firestore), including:

Your own phone number (if you enter it during onboarding or linking)
Phone numbers you choose to pin / monitor
Whether WhatsApp is linked, app version, and last active time
A push notification token (FCM) if you allow notifications

This profile is not used to upload presence history, contact names from your chats, or live online/offline events. Those remain on your device.

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage events (for example: app opened, onboarding completed, WhatsApp linked, number of people pinned). Analytics events do not include contact names or presence history.

4. How we use information

To show live presence on the Dashboard for people you select
To show history (online sessions / last seen) for those people
To send optional local notifications when someone you monitor comes online
To keep a background session active when you enable background monitoring
To restore a sample preview after you unlink

5. Permissions

Internet — required to load and maintain the linked web session and receive presence updates.
Notifications (Android 13+) — optional; used only if you enable online alerts.
Foreground / background service — used when you enable background monitoring so the linked session can stay active.

FamilySafe does not request access to your device contacts address book for monitoring. Monitoring is based on the linked messaging session and people you select inside the App.

6. Sharing / selling of data

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not share your presence history, contact selections, or linked-session contents with third parties for advertising. That monitoring data stays on your device.

7. Third-party services

Google Play — distribution, updates, and (if you purchase later) billing are handled by Google under Google’s own policies.
Google Firebase Analytics — anonymous app usage events (no contact or presence content). See Section 3.
WA App Web / messaging web session — linking uses the official web interface in an in-app browser component. That service’s own terms and privacy rules also apply to your messaging account.

8. Children’s privacy

FamilySafe is intended for adults (recommended 18+) for family-safety / parental-style use. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the App to monitor someone without a lawful basis and, where required, their knowledge or consent under applicable law.

9. Data retention & deletion

Unlinking inside the App clears live linked data on the device and can restore the sample preview.
You can clear tracked contacts from Settings.
Uninstalling FamilySafe removes the App’s local data from that device (subject to Android backup settings you control).

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to keep on-device data secure within normal Android app protections. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Protect your phone with a lock screen and do not share your linked messaging session with others.

11. International users

Times shown in history use your device’s local timezone. You are responsible for complying with privacy and monitoring laws in your country/region.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
